Base pay range

$140,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr

I am working with a dynamic and forward-thinking communications boutique agency, seeking a talented and experienced DC-based professional to take on a leadership role within their team.

This individual will play a crucial part in guiding strategic communications initiatives, driving media engagement, and building lasting client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily client account operations, strategy, and overall project coordination.
  • Develop, present, and implement comprehensive strategic communications plans.
  • Offer high-level guidance and innovative recommendations that deliver impactful results for clients.
  • Craft and implement media strategies that enhance client visibility, foster engagement, and achieve meaningful impact, securing coverage in prominent health, policy, and consumer media.
  • Build and nurture relationships with journalists, producers, and editors within health care, policy, and business media outlets.
  • Create and execute communication strategies targeting key health care audiences, including professional organizations, medical experts, media, patients, and policymakers.
  • Ensure all written and digital materials are accurate, high-quality, and free of errors, including media outreach, opinion pieces, marketing assets, videos, and briefing documents.
  • Strengthen and expand client relationships by providing thoughtful, well-rounded insights informed by a deep understanding of each project.
  • Identify potential areas for organic account growth, leading efforts to secure new opportunities and contracts.
  • Oversee, guide, and develop junior account staff, ensuring effective workload management and quality assurance.
  • Manage budgets and staffing plans to maintain financial stability and project efficiency.
  • Support new business development efforts within the health care space, contributing to strategic marketing initiatives.
  • Invest in the growth and professional development of junior team members through mentorship and coaching.
  • Engage in team-building and cultural initiatives that enhance a positive and collaborative workplace environment.

Qualifications:

  • 8-12 years of professional experience in health care communications, with a strong background in agency work.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead successful communications initiatives for both nonprofit and corporate clients.
  • Skilled in developing and executing earned media strategies, with a proven history of securing top-tier media placements in national, trade, and local outlets.
  • Well-established relationships with media professionals in health care, business, and policy sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of integrating corporate communications, marketing, and government relations to build a strong reputation.
  • Proficiency in social media strategy, with additional experience in paid media considered an asset.
  • Expertise in crisis communications, media training, and crafting impactful messaging.
  • Proven experience managing client teams effectively, delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Financially savvy with strong budget management skills to ensure the profitability of client accounts.
  • Exceptional leadership capabilities, with a talent for motivating teams and maintaining productivity in high-pressure scenarios.
  • Experience mentoring and guiding junior team members toward professional advancement.
