The Manager, Transportation Safety Compliance, needs to be agile and adaptable, ensuring ShipBob always delivers top-notch customer experiences. This position involves being part of a team that ensures compliance with US DOT and international dangerous goods regulatory standards, engaging with regulators and stakeholders, and staying informed on industry trends to proactively address challenges and opportunities in dangerous goods transportation. This role reports to the Director, Global Safety and Compliance. What you'll do: Assist in the development, review, and updating of dangerous goods program documentation, outbound shipping control systems, training, and transportation operations procedures, ensuring alignment with requirements and industry best practices. Develop strategy to execute and implement global DG procedures and compliance practices. Support new customer onboarding of DG products. Classify products according to their dangerous goods identification number. Provide regular audits of existing DG classifications and occasional assessments at ShipBob facilities around the United States. Collaborate with ShipBob's suppliers and third-party logistics providers on DG matters. Communicate DG policies to stakeholders within the organization, driving comprehension and adherence. Develop processes for waste management with DG. Stay current on emerging trends, best practices, and developments in DG through continuous professional development, industry conferences, and participation in trade groups. Additional duties and responsibilities as necessary. What you'll bring to the table: Bachelor's degree in logistics, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field. 3-5+ years of relevant and progressive work experience in global hazardous materials and dangerous goods (HM & DG) compliance roles. Current training and certifications in IATA/49 CFR, DGR, IMDG, DOT. Expert knowledge of HM & DG transportation requirements, preferably with familiarity with lithium-ion batteries and retail/eCommerce product transportation requirements. Experience reading, interpreting, and providing guidance based on HM & DG regulatory requirements. Ability to communicate effectively, collaborate, influence, and manage across multiple functions to achieve results.
