Job Description

Job Summary

Revance is looking for an experienced Medical Writer to join our team. This role involves providing advanced scientific writing expertise to our scientific and medical teams, and ensuring the successful development and preparation of high-quality, submission-ready documents such as abstracts, posters and manuscripts. As a Medical Writer, you will contribute to our product portfolios, collaborating closely with the Scientific Communications Manager and Subject Matter Experts across the Medical Affairs, Scientific Innovation, and Clinical Development teams. You will ultimately serve as a content expert, driving impactful scientific publications, and supporting the goals of the Medical Affairs and scientific teams.

  • Salary Range: *$100,000-$120,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop scientific content, including abstracts, posters, and manuscripts, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with scientific and regulatory standards.
  • Interpret and synthesize data from various sources, including clinical study reports and other research outputs, ensuring accuracy and clarity in scientific communications.
  • Translate complex data into clear, accurate content tailored to target audiences, while adhering to journal and congress requirements.
  • Act as a key liaison with subject matter experts within the internal team and external HCP authors to support Revance publications initiatives.
  • Manage projects to deadlines and anticipate and address potential scheduling and resource conflicts across aesthetic and therapeutic projects, offering solutions to ensure timely delivery and submission of deliverables.
  • Participate in planning and review meetings to ensure alignment on publication content across teams.
  • Collaborate with the Scientific Communications Manager to establish realistic timelines and project management plans based on journal, congress, and internal deadlines.
  • Engage directly with internal and external authors to resolve content, incorporate author feedback, and ensure high-quality deliverables within established timelines.
  • Provide editorial support and review for other medical writers on assigned projects, ensuring quality and alignment with project goals.
  • Stay up to date on regulatory guidelines, best practices, and industry standards (ICMJE, GCP, GPP3, etc.), and ensure compliance in all written documents.
  • Conduct literature searches to support content development, and provide actionable insights and strategy for scientific publications.
  • Maintain a high level of subject matter expertise and continuously train to stay informed of emerging trends related to Revance products and requirements in the medical writing field.
  • Contribute to strategies for extending the reach of Revance publications.

Education

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science (with significant writing experience) or English/Communications (with significant science experience). Advanced degrees (Master’s or PhD in a scientific discipline) are preferred.

Experience

  • 3+ years of relevant pharmaceutical, medical device, or scientific communications agency industry experience, or experience with academic medical writing.
  • Experience in basic science, clinical/preclinical data interpretation, or clinical research is required.
  • Experience with a formal medical writing review and approval process, and document management/archiving.

Skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to adapt writing to diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities independently while ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Ability to gather and reconcile feedback from multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret a large variety of data sources and statistical outputs.
  • Ability to review the work of others and provide both critical and editorial feedback, including grammatical/structural.
  • Knowledge of journal/congress submission practices, and the ability to work with reviewers and publishers as needed.
  • High-level content writing expertise across various types of publication types.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, document management systems, and statistical concepts and programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a scientific communications agency, medical writing agency, or scientific journal.
  • Experience working with vendors and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with industry specific document management systems.
  • Experience with publication amplification and extender strategies to achieve wider reach.
  • Experience training and educating internal stakeholders on content/messages of new publications and ensuring their understanding of the data.
  • Experience developing other medical/scientific communications pieces (e.g. slide decks, educational videos, etc.).
  • Experience with digital graphics, data visualization development, and/or infographics to support scientific communications.
