Engineering Position With Skunk Works
This exciting position is with our historic Skunk Works program. Skunk Works is an integral part of Lockheed's Aeronautics business area responsible for advanced systems development including conceptual design and rapid prototyping of clean sheet solutions and improvements and derivatives to existing systems. The ideal Skunk is an agile, multi-faceted teammate who loves to solve our customer's most difficult challenges. Some of our unclassified projects include the U-2, SR-71 Blackbird, F-22 Raptor, F-117 Nighthawk, and the F-35 Lightning II. This engineering position is within the Low Observable (LO) Materials team in Palmdale, California. This position requires the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance, therefore U.S. citizenship is required.
In this position, you will:
- Work alongside a team of engineers and technicians in a hands-on environment to develop, fabricate, and repair antennas.
- Support the research and development of new antenna designs; consulting on material choices, developing, and testing new fabrication techniques, as well as troubleshooting unexpected results during prototype builds.
- Coordinate and communicate with internal LM customers in support of mission-critical deadlines of multiple development, production, and sustainment programs.
- Maintain the laboratory inventory of supplies and materials to ensure the work can be completed.
- Create documents to instruct and guide employees in the fabrication and repair of antennas.
- Maintain a strict attention to detail including following electronic work instructions, fabrication procedures, and completing required data logs.
- Communicate with management about current and future work to strategize about the laboratory and workforce needs.
- Adhere to lab safety practices, including use of a respirator and other personal protective equipment (PPE)
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree: Material Science, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field of study.
- 2 years minimum experience in a laboratory or R&D environment.
- The ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance and special program access, therefore U.S. citizenship is required.
Desired Skills:
- Previous experience in the development, and/or fabrication of composite structures.
- Experience with antenna fabrication and/or testing.
- Understanding of material properties and antenna data analysis.
- Knowledge of composite repair techniques/procedures.
- Experience revising and/or developing engineering specifications and procedures.
- Current respirator certification.
- Project planning and project management experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration. Clearance Level: Secret.

- Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
- Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
- Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week.
- Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington, or Washington DC is $70,100 - $123,625. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
